Traditional disaster recovery services take the form of some datacentre space to rebuild in, replicate to or backup to, and some “dark workspace” to sit your essential staff when disaster strikes. The problem is, more often than not, you own the risk for recovery.
You have to design the infrastructure to meet your RTO and RPO requirements, you have to manage that infrastructure, you have to undertake the process of regular DR testing, and you have to mobilise your resources when DR is invoked for real. This means the regular DR services provider has little or no knowledge of your needs or recovery process, and as such is little more than a hosting company – the “service”, in terms of purpose, is essentially non-existent. You’re on your own and you pay through the nose for it.
This is where we believe Union is different. Building highly available infrastructures is what we do. We develop with you a set of well defined service classes aligned to RTO and RPO requirements of all your functional areas. This means that when you put your DR systems into Union’s own state of the art datacentre we know what it’s doing, why it’s doing it, and how it works, thus adding value to the recovery process should there be an invocation.
But there’s more. We use the latest technology to build your primary infrastructure so that it’s optimised for today’s DR demands. This means all of your critical systems have in fact a “warm” twin at our datacentre, waiting to kick in when needed and with access to replicated data. All recovery processes can be automated and by running warm systems in parallel, testing becomes a piece of cake – something that can be done during the working week without impact to the business. Compliant, proven, validated.
“Live” standby systems, replicated storage repositories, and backup systems can be provided on a dedicated or aggregated model to suit your budget. Union also offers flexible workspace recovery facilities including desk space, telephony, and systems access, plus a unique Virtual Workspace Recovery services that drives cost and productivity efficiencies to a new level.
The specialist people skills that we can provide next to your DR infrastructure are second to none, and the datacentre space we have in Kent can be provided on flexible terms with managed service levels ranging in granularity according to your needs. For a truly dynamic and modern DR service, Union is the logical choice.
