Measuring the quality of any given service is critical in establishing a service oriented infrastructure (SOI).

Whether you intend to out-source your services or to provide them yourself, it is essential you have the ability to monitor key metrics and anticipate problems before they manifest themselves in degraded service levels. That way you can always be sure that you are either getting good value or can demonstrate you are delivering good value.
